Range of Pay: Group 6 - $2,134.30 to $2,515.80 bi-weekly (Subject to Review) - Range in effect April 1, 2026

Main Function: Responsible for the coordination, planning, promotion, and delivery of City of Greater Sudbury (CGS) wide leisure programs. Ensure program participants with disabilities are supported and successfully integrated into programs.

Characteristic Duties: Under the direction of the Manager of Recreation Services and the day-to-day direction of a Recreation Co-ordinator.

1. Develop and implement inclusive practices in program planning, development, and delivery to ensure youths with disabilities are supported and successfully integrated into programs.
2. Work closely with and support program participants with disabilities.
3. Work with CGS staff to provide safe environments for participants who require additional support. Promote health and well-being of youth with disabilities, plan inclusive programs, and apply intervention strategies where required.
4. Select, train, supervise and discipline staff. Ensure that all staff understand and comply with CGS policies.
5. Assist with planning, promotion and delivery of leisure programs, special events and sport tournaments through direct and indirect contact and liaison with community organizations and schools.
6. Make recommendations for continuous improvement of leisure programs and training.
7. Plan and make the necessary arrangements for the in-house training courses.
8. Maintain a safe program site and follow all safety and accident prevention regulations.
9. Ensure that sufficient supplies and equipment are available.
10. Coordinate the maintenance, cleanliness, and security at all program locations. Report all damages, accidents, and incidents to the appropriate staff.
11. Coordinate and maintain accurate attendance records and program reports.
12. Prepare weekly payroll of all program staff and submit same for approval.
13. Conduct job performance appraisals, salary reviews and discipline in accordance with the respective collective bargaining agreement.
14. Evaluate and manage the job performance of employees, as required. Act as management's representative in the grievance procedure in accordance with the respective collective bargaining agreement.
15. Provide assistance, support, and leadership to program staff. Attend and/or schedule meetings, as required.
16. Assist in the planning, implementing and evaluation of Leaders in Training (LIT) and Counsellor in Training (CIT) programs and supervise participants.
17. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
18. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Training:

• Successful completion of a college diploma in a related discipline (e.g., Child and Youth Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Early Childhood Education, etc.) from a recognized community college with Canadian accreditation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CPR and First Aid Certificate.

Experience:

• A minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience including overseeing recreational programming with at least one (1) year working with youths with disabilities.

Knowledge Of:

• Best practices within areas of responsibility.

Abilities To:

• Work independently with a minimum of supervision.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with community partners and volunteers.
• Demonstrate effective communication, public relations and problem-solving skills.
• Understand and meet the needs of customers.
• Work evenings and weekends, as required.
• Demonstrate ability to supervise, train and lead staff.

Personal Suitability:

• Mental and physical fitness to perform essential job functions.

Language:

• Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
• French verbal skills highly desirable; written skills an asset.

Other Requirements:

• May require the use of a personal or CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
• Provide, at own cost, a Criminal Records Check.

Development opportunity range of pay: $1,709.40 to $2,013.90 bi-weekly (Subject to Review) - Range in effect April 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced range until the minimum qualifications have been met.
