About The Role
Our Employee Communications team is producing more internal content for Shopify, and we are looking to add a Senior Producer, Video to the team. This role will execute video productions across our in-house content portfolio, leading some projects while providing key production support for others. This content includes original content, internal podcasts, company announcements, communications for core teams (Revenue, Talent, and Engineering), monthly Town Halls, and our annual company-wide Summit. You'll work directly with our team of producers and stakeholders to ramp up our content roadmap.
We're looking for someone with a deep understanding of storytelling, cinematography, lighting, and editing who can take a video production from concept through delivery. You'll shoot and edit compelling content, build visual treatments, and collaborate with creative teams and senior stakeholders to communicate our company's mission through powerful visual storytelling. This individual should be passionate about their craft, eager to grow, and have the ability to produce quality content at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of video productions from concept through delivery
- Shoot and edit video content across various formats and scopes, both in-studio and in the field
- Develop and ideate creative concepts for video projects and series based on strategic briefs
- Build out best practices and visual treatments for content, from a cinematic and editing perspective
- Work collaboratively with writers, technical producers, motion designers and designers, with the ability to run productions independently when needed
- Produce executive communications and company-wide announcements featuring C-level stakeholders, managing all aspects from pre-production planning through final delivery
- Manage production workflows, systems, and budgets to ensure efficient content creation
- Explore and integrate emerging technologies including AI tools for editing, production workflows, and content enhancement
- Maintain and organize digital assets, project files, and deliver final content across multiple aspect ratios with quality control
Qualifications
- Ability to lead the execution of video productions independently, from development to delivery
- Portfolio demonstrates strong creative instincts, versatility, and a unique point of view
- Dynamic storyteller with deep understanding of cinematography, lighting, and visual storytelling
- Advanced editing skills in Adobe Premiere and the Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong knowledge of professional camera systems and production equipment (Sony, Canon, or similar)
- Experience with both in-studio and field productions, with the ability to work solo or collaborate with a crew
- Ability to work across multiple projects, adapt quickly, and deliver within time constraints
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders without compromising creative integrity
- Passion for helping Shopifolk understand and connect with Shopify's mission through compelling visual storytelling
- The ability to thrive on changes
Nice to Have
- Experience with motion design and animation in After Effects
- Experience with color grading and advanced post-production techniques
- Experience working on live events or multi-camera productions
- Background in internal/employee communications or corporate storytelling
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants must submit a portfolio of work for review. This initial submission will provide insight into their past work and expertise in video production, execution, and visual storytelling. Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to walk through a deep dive of 1–2 specific projects from their portfolio, detailing their process from concept to delivery.
About Shopify
Opportunity is not evenly distributed. Shopify puts independence within reach for anyone with a dream to start a business. We propel entrepreneurs and enterprises to scale the heights of their potential. Since 2006, we've grown to over 8,300 employees and generated over $1 trillion in sales for millions of merchants in 175 countries.
This is life-defining work that directly impacts people's lives as much as it transforms your own. This is putting the power of the few in the hands of the many, is a future with more voices rather than fewer, and is creating more choices instead of an elite option.
About You
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter)
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change
- Bring critical thought and opinion
- Use AI tools reflexively as part of your fundamental workflow
- Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward
- Work digital-first for your daily work
