Overview

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Kitchen Manager / Supervisor to lead our kitchen team in delivering consistent, high-quality food in a fast-paced café environment. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a solid background in kitchen operations, food safety, and team supervision, who leads by example and takes pride in maintaining high standards.

This role is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, managing and developing staff, and supporting seamless service execution. Previous experience supervising or managing a kitchen, along with a strong work ethic and attention to detail, is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring consistency and quality at all times
  • Supervise kitchen staff by assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and ongoing performance management
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Monitor inventory levels, minimize waste, and assist with ordering to support smooth daily operations
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures related to food handling, cleanliness, and safety
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Collaborate closely with front-of-house teams to ensure efficient service flow and strong guest satisfaction
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive, respectful, and hardworking team culture
  • Address operational issues and guest concerns promptly and professionally
  • Support menu execution and assist with menu development or updates as needed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience supervising or managing a kitchen in a café or restaurant setting
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Solid understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
  • Experience with inventory management and kitchen organization
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong work ethic with a hands-on approach to leadership
  • Food Handler Certification required
  • Experience in the food and hospitality industry; café or fast-casual experience preferred
