Our Challenge:
Synechron is seeking for a talented Databricks Engineer to develop, optimize, and manage scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions on the Databricks platform. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Spark, cloud data lakes, and software engineering best practices to enable efficient data workflows and support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, Ontario, Canada is CAD $100k – CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows utilizing Databricks notebooks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
- Optimize Spark jobs for performance and scalability in a cloud environment.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Implement data ingestion processes from various sources and ensure data quality and consistency.
- Manage Databricks clusters, workspace environments, and job orchestration.
- Develop automated deployment and CI/CD pipelines for Databricks notebooks and jobs.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data pipelines and Databricks environments.
- Ensure data security, access controls, and compliance within the platform.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with
Databricks platform
(notebooks, clusters, jobs, and workflows). - Strong knowledge of
Apache Spark
(PySpark, Scala, or SQL). - Proficiency in
Python
and/or
Scala
for developing Spark applications. - Experience with
Delta Lake
for managing data lakes with ACID transactions. - Familiarity with cloud platforms like
Azure (Azure Databricks)

AWS
, or
GCP
. - Solid understanding of data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions.
- Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools and scheduling (e.g., Airflow, Databricks Jobs, Azure Data Factory).
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
- Ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
