What You'll Do:

As our Maintenance Technician you'll be an integral part of our team, responsible for:

General Maintenance:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of all company properties.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff, ensuring a safe and functional environment.
  • Conduct minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, furniture, doors and fixtures.
  • Patch walls, paint, replace flooring and repair minor structural issues as needed.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds, fences, and landscaping.
  • Assist with small-scale construction or renovation projects.
  • Assemble or install furniture, cabinets, playground equipment and other school-related structures.
  • Support emergency response efforts when urgent repairs are required.
  • Assist with setting up or breaking down rooms for school events or activities.
  • Occasionally relocate furniture and equipment between rooms or facilities as needed

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all facilities meet safety standards, including fire, health, and accessibility regulations.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment safely.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years experience providing preventative and corrective maintenance repairs.
  • Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance, repairs, and light construction (e.g., painting, minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry).

  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
  • Experience with furniture or equipment moving and general facility upkeep.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and proper use of cleaning and maintenance materials.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods.

  • Comfortable being active and on the move throughout the day.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail when performing repairs or installations.

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues.

  • Reliability and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Good communication skills for reporting issues or coordinating with staff.

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
