JOB SUMMARYCultural and Heritage Programs is responsible for multi-disciplinary arts centres, heritage and museum facilities and structures, the delivery of arts, heritage and museum public programming and events, volunteer program development, audience development, and exhibits and research.
You assist the Collections Officer/Cultural Planner with the intellectual (information) and physical management of artifacts/artworks. This includes: registration, cataloguing, preparing artifacts/artworks, preparing and maintaining display/exhibition/storage spaces, installing and dismantling the exhibitions, receiving shipments, and assisting with research and response to public inquiries.
Duties include knowledge of museum standards in regard to the handling and care, preparation for delivery and installation, and storage of a wide range of objects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEnrolled in university or college program in history, art history, fine arts, social sciences or museum studies
Minimum of 1 year of collections management/registration experience in a museum/gallery environment and/or 1 year of technical experience in a museum/gallery environment (includes experience working with specialized tools for exhibit instillation)
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates AODA Customer Service/IASR Training KNOWLEDGE- Provincial Conservation Standards for collections

- Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation

- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
- Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
