SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Facilities Engineering provides engineering and project management services for the design, construction and maintenance of natural gas compression facilities to accommodate the expansion, maintenance and integrity of compression assets. This includes the provision of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application of engineering and industry practices, technological advancements and identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and corporate objectives.

Position Details

  • Non-union. This posting includes two positions: one permanent full time and one temporary full time.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support assigned projects and/or programs of a multidisciplinary nature involving project management, engineering design, construction and on-site commissioning of project related corporate assets to ensure projects proceed safely, are on budget and are executed according to planned schedules.
  • Prepare, review and approve engineering designs, standards, design specifications and business reports. This includes making provisions for public and employee safety in accordance with legislated requirements.
  • Oversee consultants providing services on compression assets and gas processing plants. Provide direction and ensure that the work performed adheres to internal standards/processes, is reviewed for quality in execution and is carried out safely.
  • Provide technical support by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis and resolution of problems.
  • Develop and deliver technical training to field staff as required.
  • Assist with the development of plans and business cases to optimize complex systems, technologies & facilities while challenging current practices for capital strategic and operational projects and support strategies.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry developments and best practices.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Petroleum, Chemical, Civil or Agricultural discipline preferred, others may also be considered).
  • Professional Engineer designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience, demonstrated competency in natural gas compression, project management and natural gas industry experience would be preferred.
  • Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.

An Engineer-in-training (new graduates or those with less than five years' experience) may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Additional Information

  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
  • A Class 5 Driver's License is required.
