Maintenance Technician

Purpose of the Position:
Acts as an industry expert with an emphasis on strong guidance to achieve departmental and customer goals as measured by a wide variety of inputs and analysis. Assists the employees and management with day-to-day operations, mentor junior technicians as required and continuously improve on reliability of equipment and processes.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
General Duties.
- Works on repairs and maintains equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
- Works with others to provide tactical management of daily maintenance operations.
- Partners with Operations to meet daily case counts and ensures compliance to all quality standards.
- Ensures a safe work environment and a safe workplace.
- Assumes leadership of the maintenance department in the absence of the Maintenance Manager.
- Executes training activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
- Works with others (operators, mechanics, supervisors, and management) in such a manner to promote positive outcomes and attitudes among fellow employees.
- Reviews issues and resolves conflicts and challenges by gathering the facts and assessing the situation.
- Communicates (written & spoken) clearly and effectively with employees and management.
Operating systems principles and objectives.
- Is familiar and continues to establish operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) conducive to the goals and objectives of the Cambridge Treats organization.
- Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Participate as a member of the Team.
- Participate in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies, including HACCP, Food Sanitation, GMP's, Continuous Improvement, etc.
- Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all employees.
- Foster strong cohesiveness regarding major issues (i.e. direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.).
- Actively participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and other related activities.
- Member of the Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Team, responsible for food safety and quality through adherence to and promotion of the FSQ Program.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Completion of a three (3) to four (4) year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five (5) years of work experience and industry courses in industrial machinery repair or millwrighting.
- Post-secondary education in a technical / engineering discipline or Industrial Skilled Trade License (442A/433A) or equivalent experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and create/maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Welding skills are preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years working in a food processing organization.
- Duo license in Electrical would be a definite asset.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and balance conflicting priorities.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
