About this opportunity

CBI Health is looking for a skilled and compassionate Rehabilitation Driving Instructor to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work with individuals who have undergone a medical injury or have received a medical diagnosis which has impacted their ability to safely drive. Through on road assessment and training, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients regain their independence, confidence and the skills required to return to driving.

Take an inside look at what you'll do each day

• Complete on-road assessments with the Occupational Therapist for clients with a variety of diagnoses
• Adapt instruction to meet the unique physical, cognitive and psychological needs of each client
• Provide recommendations to the Occupational Therapist regarding a client's ability to safely drive
• Complete on-road treatment sessions with clients with a variety of diagnoses
• Regular communication with administrative team
• Maintain up-to-date, detailed progress notes and communicating assessment findings and progress to the Occupational Therapist on a regular basis
• Provide education and instructions regarding use of adaptive equipment during treatment sessions, if applicable
• Ensure vehicle and adaptive equipment are safely maintained and operated

What you need to be successful

• Licensed Driving Instructor (valid and in good standing)
• Three years of experience as a driving instructor
• Experience working with individuals with medical conditions impacting their driving ability
• MTO approved would be an asset
• Strong knowledge of adaptive driving equipment and vehicle modifications
• Member of ADED would be an asset
