As a Residential Skills Instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you provide essential support and companionship to individuals who need help with daily activities in a residential home.  

Location: Amesbury, MA (Group home setting) 

Current Openings:

Full Time Schedule 40 hours per week 

This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire. 

  • Tuesday - Friday 3:00pm - 11:00pm 

Part Time Schedules 25+ hours per week 

This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.  

  • Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 11:00pm  
  • Saturday & Sunday 9:00am - 11:00pm, Monday 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Compensation: These are non-exempt full-time/part-time positions. The hourly rate is $21.00. You will be a union member to SEIU Local 509. 

Group Home Details: As a residential skills instructor or Awake Overnight staff, you will be assisting 4 individuals ranging from ages 22 and up, with their activities of daily living (ADL's) such as - feeding, cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene assistance, documentation, and medication administration. You will use a wheelchair van to transport individuals to appointments and community activities. During the overnight hours, you will also be responsible for remaining alert and attentive, conducting routine wellness checks on individuals, and providing personal care support, including toileting assistance and brief changes as needed. Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as personal hygiene assistance (toileting assistant/brief changing), bathing, dressing, feeding, grooming, transferring, and meal preparation.   
  • Able and willing to assist with heavy lifting and driving wheelchair accessible company vans. Responsible for transporting our individuals to appointments, community events, or recreational activities. 
  • Complete Individual Support Plans (ISP) to support our individuals in achieving personal goals and promoting independence.
  • Complete daily logs and notes, track behavioral data.  

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with medication administration and maintain accurate documentation, as required. 
  • Provide companionship, mentorship, and redirecting behaviors. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential program. 
  • Uphold individual's rights, dignity, and confidentiality at all times. 
  • Maintaining the program's staff to resident ratio, money management, providing home management, and redirecting behaviors.  

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. 
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals. 
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community. 
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) Certification; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 6 months of employment. 
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment. 
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.
