Job description
We invite you to become part of our team as a skilled Auto Body Prep/Refinish Technician. In this position, you will be entrusted with the precise refinishing necessary to restore each vehicle to its original, pre-accident condition. This hands-on role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of refinishing techniques as well as an acute attention to colour matching.
Responsibilities
- Prepares surfaces by completing vehicle masking, priming, and applying top coats.
- Applies all primers, sealers, basecoats, colour coats, and clear coats using the correct formulations according to the specifications provided by the paint manufacturer.
- Refinishes vehicles in accordance with insurance guidelines and the quality standards set by management.
- Inspects body and prep repairs for any issues that could affect the quality of the refinishing process and advises the production supervisor as necessary.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring that all necessary items listed on the Repair Orders (RO) are completed to meet quality standards.
- Executes all refinishing procedures following factory specifications.
- Corrects all paint imperfections through wet sanding and polishing (such as runs, dirt nibs, etc.).
- Precisely mixes paint to achieve an accurate colour match.
- Adheres to vendor procedures for maintaining all tools and equipment, which includes the upkeep of the paint booth and its filters.
- Keeps the workspace clean and organized to foster a safe and efficient working environment.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience Required
- At least 5 years of prior experience in a refinish position within a collision repair facility
- Proficient in various sanding and masking techniques
- Well-versed in automotive paints, primers, and painting equipment
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to adhere to instructions
- Strong skills in problem-solving and time management
- Physical endurance to handle repetitive tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Benefits
Pay / Flat Rate
- We will be using a flat rate payment system. This means that instead of being paid by the hour or by the day, you will receive a fixed amount for the entire project.
- The advantage of this system is that it provides clarity and certainty for both of us. You will know exactly how much you will be paid, regardless of how long the project takes to complete.
- Flat rate pay will be discussed upon and during hiring process.
