Job Summary

We're looking for an Instrument Technician who is ready for a role that combines the best of both worlds — a home base in town and the opportunity to travel and explore some of the most remote and dramatic landscapes in the North.

This role is perfect for a hands-on tradesperson who enjoys a dynamic, project-oriented setting, whether you're commissioning a water treatment plant in a small community above the Arctic Circle or calibrating instruments closer to home. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems for building automation and process control
• Perform loop checks, calibrations, and terminations for process instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, chemical analyzers, etc.)
• Support automation projects across water and wastewater treatment facilities — from pump stations and reservoirs to Arctic water plants — delivering reliable control solutions in all conditions
• Collaborate with automation programmers, engineers, and mechanical trades to achieve smooth system integration
• Troubleshoot field devices, VFDs, PLC I/O, and low-voltage control systems in a range of settings
• Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
• Ensure high standards for electrical code compliance, site safety, and accurate documentation of all work

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyman Certification in Instrumentation (or equivalent provincial credentials)
• 5+ years of field experience, with at least 2 years in water and wastewater automation or industrial process control
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation calibration, and control fundamentals
• Familiarity with municipal standards, CSA codes, and safety procedures for hazardous and confined spaces
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across Western Canada — from bustling towns to the Arctic wilderness
• CSTS, Fall Protection, and Confined Space certifications are assets
