Job Description
The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist to assist with a variety of treatment procedures and help with preparing the patient by clearly explaining the procedure and making them feel more comfortable before, during, and after their treatments. The Dental Assistant relates well to the patients and demonstrates a high degree of sensitivity to all patient concerns to ensure patient comfort and confidence. Training will be provided for uncertified assistants.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated education or experience in health care, dental assisting, or a related field. CDA Level I or Level II is preferred
- Interpersonal skills to work well in a team environment, and with patients
- Standard First Aid - CPR C - AED certificate or willing to obtain
- Knowledge or experience with PC software / dental software (Dentrix) / radiograph imaging software (Dexis)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willing to participate in continuing education opportunities
- Willing to learn and assist with patient scheduling and other reception duties as required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Bilingualism in English and French will be considered an asset
Additional responsibilities include:
- Greet and welcome patients immediately upon their arrival
- Communicate with patients regarding their treatment
- Ensure that lab cases are sent out in a timely manner
- Make patients feel more comfortable
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies and procedures
- Clean and sterilize all instruments
- Stock supplies and maintain inventory
- Take impressions for study models
- Set up operatory room for appropriate procedure
- Update patient charts in computer
- Post treatments in the computer
- Tray set-up and removal
- Support and help implement marketing strategies as directed
- Assist and support other team members where and when needed
- Flexibility and willingness to work extra hours as required

Description
L'assistant (e) dentaire travaillera de près avec le dentiste pour l'aider lors des différents traitements et procédures et l'aider à préparer le patient en lui expliquant clairement la procédure et les rendre confortables avant, pendant et après leur traitement. L'assistant (e) dentaire communique bien avec les patients et démontre une sensibilité de haute qualité à toutes les préoccupations de tous les patients pour assurer leur confiance et leur confort. La formation sera fournie pour les assistants (es) non certifiés (es).
Qualifications
- Avoir l'éducation ou l'expérience dans les soins de la santé, assistance dentaire ou un domaine semblable. ADC Niveau I ou II est préférable.
- Des bonnes habiletés interpersonnelles pour bien travailler en équipe et avec les patients
- Premiers soins – certification RCR C — DEA
- Connaissances et expérience avec les logiciels/dentaires (Dentrix)/images radiographiques (Dexis)
- Habiletés de communication orale et écrite excellentes
- Prêt à participer a des occasions de formation continue
- Prêt à apprendre et à aider avec l'horaire des patients et autres tâches de la réception au besoin
- Bilinguisme (anglais et français) est considéré un atout
Responsabilités additionnelles sont :
- Saluer et accueillir les patients dès leur arrivée
- Communiquer avec le patient au sujet de leur traitement
- Assurer que les cas de laboratoires sont envoyés dans un délai convenable
- Assurer le confort des patients
- Respecter strictement les politiques et les procédures pour le contrôle des infections
- Nettoyer et stériliser tous les instruments
- Ranger les fournitures et maintenir l'inventaire
- Prendre des impressions pour des modèles d'études
- Préparer la salle d'opération pour la procédure appropriée
- Mettre les dossiers des patients à jour dans l'ordinateur
- Entrer les traitements à l'ordinateur
- Installer et retirer les plateaux
- Appuyer et aider à mettre en œuvre les stratégies de mise en marché comme qu'indiqué
- Appuyer et aider les autres membres de l'équipe, lorsque nécessaire
- Flexibilité et volonté de travailler des heures supplémentaires au besoin
