Job Description

The Exteriors / Building Envelope Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site exterior construction activities, with a primary focus on the building envelope. This role is directly accountable for sequencing, coordination, quality control, and safety of all exterior scopes including waterproofing, air/vapour barriers, cladding, roofing, windows, and related interfaces.

Working closely with the Project Manager, consultants, and subcontractors, the Superintendent will ensure that all envelope systems are constructed in strict accordance with drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes — while maintaining schedule, budget, and the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day exterior and building envelope construction activities
• Coordinate and sequence envelope trades including:
• Waterproofing
• Air and vapour barriers
• Roofing
• Cladding and siding systems
• Windows, doors, and glazing
• Ensure strict adherence to SitkaWest's OHS and site safety programs
• Lead envelope-specific planning, sequencing, and logistics
• Interpret architectural, structural, and envelope drawings and specifications
• Develop and manage 3-week and 6-week look-ahead schedules focused on exterior scopes
• Chair and manage weekly exterior / envelope coordination meetings
• Coordinate inspections, mock-ups, testing, and reviews with envelope consultants
• Monitor weather exposure risks and implement mitigation measures
• Ensure continuity and compatibility of envelope systems and interfaces
• Maintain detailed daily site reports and photo documentation
• Enforce quality control standards and deficiency management
• Support the Project Manager with cost tracking and budget awareness for exterior scopes
• Coordinate material deliveries, storage, and protection
• Order required equipment and ensure proper use and maintenance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized exterior work environment
• Resolve site issues proactively to avoid delays, deficiencies, or rework

Prerequisites & Qualifications

• Red Seal Trade certification, preferably Carpentry
• Minimum 5 years experience working as a Red Seal tradesperson
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Site Superintendent in commercial, institutional, or multi-family construction
• Demonstrated experience delivering building envelope / exterior scopes
• Completion of at least two multi-family wood-frame projects from start to finish
• Strong understanding of:
• Building envelope principles
• Moisture management
• Sequencing and weather protection
• Highly organized with exceptional problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word) and Bluebeam
• Strong safety background; NCSO designation is an asset
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in construction management or a related field is an asset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Positive attitude and collaborative leadership style

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
