Job Description:

Wrapex Industrial Services is seeking a proactive and dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our dynamic team. This role is open to candidates at all levels of experience from recent graduates to seasoned professionals. Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Tasks

  • Assist in the maintenance of COR Audit, WCB, and external pre-qualifying programs.
  • Ensure company HSE programs meet or exceeds the Client site standards and policies.
  • Maintain all reports, statistics and corrective actions for the company.
  • Monitor and audit the performance of the team to ensure conformance to the company HSE Management Program.
  • Establish and communicate goals, strategy, direction and priorities to the President and Regional Manager.
  • Attend meetings with clients as the subject matter expert in OHS legislation and related company programs and documentation.
  • Maintain and update HSE Manual.

Operational Tasks

  • Continually monitor, audit, and maintain the company HSE program to ensure appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the Client side.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to coordinate all offers of modified work and WCB cases.
  • Coordinate, monitor and supervise investigations of all incidents and near miss incidents.
  • Creation of site-specific documentation including JHS's, ERP's and project work plans.
  • Assist, review and ensure compliance regulations, acts, code, laws, and standards within Occupational Health and Safety in order to identify potential hazards in the workplace to minimize/prevent incidents and injuries.
  • Determine client specific certification and training requirements for field staff.
  • Create and update preventative maintenance programs and accountability assignments.
  • Routine visits to field locations to ensure continued alignment and provide support as required.

Leadership Tasks:

  • Support Project Managers on all aspects related to OHS.
  • Champion new roll-up HSE programs
  • Create and lead annual HSE programs such as "Fresh Start" and "Finish Strong" campaigns.
  • Prepare, lead and distribute monthly safety meetings.
  • Complete office and shop safety inspections.
  • Guide and support all levels as the subject expert in OHS Legislation.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • NSCO Designation
  • OHS Diploma or Certificate
  • Active Auditor Certificate
  • CRSP Designation (considered an asset for all level of candidates)
  • Active H2S Alive or Awareness
  • Active First Aid Training
  • CSTS
  • Active Drivers License and clean Drivers Abstract
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for safety excellence and taking initiative
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure, respect deadlines and high expectations
  • Strong organization, time management and attention to detail

Working Conditions

  • Safety sensitive position
  • Office based ( no-hybrid or remote option available
  • Available outside regular business hours for emergency situations
  • Must be capable of performing tasks that require extended periods of standing, crouching, crawling, or kneeling
  • Must be able to travel out of town when needed for Client meetings
  • May be exposed to high noise levels and hazards associated with live operating plants, industrial sites and remote work locations
  • Able to meet client site-access requirements such as D&A testing, clean-shaven, PPE, etc
