Automation Quality Assurance Engineer
Location- Canada
- OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Quality Assurance Engineer to provide expert-level services on an annual contract basis. This role will focus on implementing and maintaining automated test solutions for Client's software products and platforms. The contractor will collaborate closely with internal technical teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to support quality assurance initiatives, streamline testing processes, and improve overall product stability through automation.
- SCOPE OF SERVICES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Design and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using Java, Postman, Selenium, Shell scripting, etc.
* Develop automation solutions for both UI-based and non-UI-based components as well as build processes.
* Perform manual testing when necessary and convert manual test cases into automated scripts.
* Collaborate with internal teams (developers, scrum masters, stakeholders) to align QA efforts with product goals.
* Add to the capability team for testability
* Track and report on testing results and automation coverage; identify and resolve testing-related risks.
* Conduct code reviews and provide mentoring to internal QA personnel where applicable.
* Serve as a mentor to junior engineers by offering technical guidance, sharing best practices, and helping to develop their automation skills.
* Ensure mobile platform automation strategies are up-to-date and relevant.
* Document test methodologies, tools, and automation processes as part of engagement deliverables.
- DELIVERABLES:
* A maintained and documented suite of automated tests.
* Weekly or bi-weekly status updates on testing progress and defect trends.
* Automation coverage metrics and reports.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum 6+ years of experience in Software QA, including 5+ years in automation framework development.
* Proficiency in Java for test automation development.
* Expertise in API/Web services testing and tools.
* Strong grasp of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect tracking (JIRA preferred).
* Experience with BDD frameworks, Selenium WebDriver, and testing tools like Junit or TestNG.
* Solid understanding of relational databases and ability to write SQL queries.
* Proficiency with DevOps tools such as Github, Jenkins, AWS tools and Splunk.
* Experience with Windows/Linux OS environments and app servers like Tomcat or JBoss.
* Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS), caching concepts, and JavaScript (preferred but not
required).
* Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills; must be self-directed and proactive.
- ENGAGEMENT TERMS:
* Duration: 12-month contract with potential for renewal
* Location: Remote
* Time Commitment: Full-time 40 hours/week
* Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA):
The contractor will be required to sign and comply with a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) as mandated by the client. This agreement will cover the protection of confidential information, proprietary software, intellectual property, and all project-related data. All work products created during the engagement
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.36-$55,000.29 per year
