Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Quantity Surveyor to join our construction and project management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial control for construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency with industry-standard software. The Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality standards and fostering positive relationships with clients and contractors.

Duties

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed budgets for construction projects using tools like HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
  • Conduct thorough construction estimating to determine project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Manage procurement processes by negotiating prices with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best value.
  • Monitor project expenses throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and clients to develop pricing strategies and project scopes.
  • Analyze change orders and variations to assess their impact on overall project costs.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to each project for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Assist in project management activities by providing cost control insights and supporting scheduling efforts.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam for document management and markup review.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Experience with project management principles to coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Familiarity with HeavyBid software for accurate bid preparation.
  • Solid understanding of construction estimating techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to analyze pricing data critically to develop competitive bids and budgets.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial documentation.
