The Friends is recruiting an Independent Living Assistant in the Burk's Falls/Sundridge area for homecare programs. These programs are designed to support and assist clients with activities of daily living while encouraging/facilitating client ability to gain/maintain independence. The duties of this position would include: bathing, dressing, toileting, medication reminders, light housekeeping and meal preparation. Qualifications:

  • interest/experience supporting seniors and adults with physical disabilities living in their own home with health care needs
  • background/training in health related field such as PSW/DSW/SSW is preferred but not necessary
  • understanding of and commitment to independent living and client right to direct their own care
  • excellent physical strength and stamina
  • ability to work with direction and independently
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • sound judgement and discretion in confidential matters
  • reliable vehicle, travel is required

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Provide compassionate caregiving and support, fostering independence.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and their families to understand needs and preferences.
  • medication reminders/cueing and monitor health conditions.

Job Types: Permanent, Casual

Pay: $22.95-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
