Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying joint compound, taping, and finishing drywall surfaces to create smooth, seamless walls and ceilings. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on various projects. Prior experience in the restoration industry or with water damage restoration is a plus. The Drywall Taper will collaborate with other trades and ensure that all finishing work meets high-quality standards, contributing to the successful completion of residential and commercial construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams, corners, and joints with precision and consistency
  • Sand and finish drywall surfaces to achieve a smooth, professional appearance
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and installation instructions to accurately execute project specifications
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, patching, or repairing damaged areas before taping and finishing
  • Collaborate with carpenters, plasterers, and other trades to ensure seamless project flow
  • Assist with related tasks such as caulking, trim carpentry, fixture installation, and drywall patching as needed
  • Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and debris removal throughout the job site
  • Follow safety protocols on construction sites to prevent accidents or injuries

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in drywall taping, finishing, or related construction roles
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, and schematics is preferred
  • Familiarity with plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco work, metal stud framing, and tile laying is advantageous
  • Experience in restoration industry projects including mold remediation and water damage restoration is a plus
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately
