Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Recreation Aide to join our team in providing engaging activities and social opportunities for residents in a senior living or nursing home environment. The ideal candidate will support residents' well-being by facilitating recreational programs that promote physical, emotional, and social health. This role is vital in enhancing residents' quality of life through personalized care and meaningful interactions.

Duties

  • Plan, organize, and lead recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, music, and outings.
  • Assist residents with participation in daily activities, ensuring safety and encouragement.
  • Support residents with mobility, communication, and personal needs during activities.
  • Foster a positive environment that promotes socialization and emotional well-being among residents.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to coordinate activity schedules and address individual needs.
  • Monitor residents' responses to activities and report any concerns or changes in behavior to the appropriate team members.
  • Maintain activity supplies and ensure the activity area is clean and organized.

Skills

  • Experience working with seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings preferred.
  • Background in senior care, dementia care, or working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents of varying cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in improving residents' quality of life through recreational activities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Creativity in designing inclusive activities that cater to diverse needs and interests.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for fostering a supportive environment.
