This candidate works closely with our volunteer's and is responsible for group fitness schedules including MindBody.Major Responsibilities-in this position, you will:Assists individual members with their fitness programs, in a positive and professional mannerProvides support and leadership to staff and volunteers to ensure safe and quality programs, including training and delivering performance evaluationsAssists with the planning and implementation of safe and fun YMCA Health and Fitness programs in accordance with YMCA standards.Assist members and guests with fitness floor related questions including machine use, equipment locations and basic movement and exercise inquiriesBuilds meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleaguesPromotes philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Strong Kids CampaignAssists with operation of the facility, including opening and closing the buildingProvides direct leadership to program delivery and ensures program content meets the appropriate criteria and outlineEnsures program design and layout meets the needs of all participantsPerforms member orientations to the fitness facilityPerforms all mandatory administration duties and recordsMaintains an atmosphere of achievement that inspires self and others to succeed at the highest levelsEnsures the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff – this includes the free weight, stretching, circuit and cardio areasMaintains a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all program areas, common spaces, and washroomsAssists with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practicesAttends staff meetings, planning sessions and training events as requiredAssists with running events.Qualifications-you bring:3 successful character referencesCompletion of Grade 12Minimum one year supervisory experienceStandard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificateYMCA Fitness – Individual Conditioning Level 2 or equivalentYMCA Group Fitness Instructor or equivalentPrevious experience with group fitness classes an assetSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start dateAbout YMCA BC:By igniting belonging and championing health equity, YMCA BC strengthens the foundations of community.
