Do you find yourself with some extra time during the weekdays—and the occasional weekend day —and want to lend a hand to a growing team of pet care practitioners ? At bwd Petcare, we're currently looking for a friendly, reliable backup Dog Walker, and a sometimes Cat Watcher, who can jump in for sick days, last-minute bookings, or extra-busy stretches. If you've got a flexible or open schedule, a passion for pet care, and the ability to help out here and there (without committing to a full-time load), this could be a perfect fit. Shifts are typically short and manageable—often 1–3 hours, occasionally up to 4–5.

Even in this relief-style role, you'll still be a valued and supported member of our team—with access to benefits like telemedicine, mental health support, and team events. All we ask is that you show up reliably when scheduled and keep us in the loop when you're unavailable. It's a great way to be part of something meaningful without taking on a full schedule.

We are looking for someone:

  • located within the City of Ottawa
  • available weekly from Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm (+/- 1 hour)
  • availability evenings and weekends is a plus
  • with G2/G license and access to your own vehicle
  • technologically literate with a smart phone equipped with data and camera
  • someone who enjoys being physically active, can work in various weather conditions and walk 20,000+ steps in a day
  • ability to possibly have to lift up to 50lbs
  • with strong written and oral communication skills
  • with a clear criminal record check (must provide bwd with a copy)
  • reliable, punctual, and eager to learn & grow in a small, local, and female-owned business

Job Description

The essential responsibilities of bwd Dog Walkers include the following:

  • arrive on-time to all appointments
  • facilitate mentally engaging on-leash walks
  • uphold exceptional canine safety
  • promote automatic canine behaviours
  • provide dogs with safe and balanced physical and mental exercise while delivering excellent customer service
  • follow any specific client requests regarding feeding, leashing, house rules
  • fill out the digital walk report after completed appointment
  • work outdoors in various weather conditions

All applicants, regardless of experience or education should be open and prepared to potentially relearn their dog skills in order to ensure consistency across the bwd team. You do not need to have any professional dog walking experience - we will teach you everything you need to know.
