About the Role:

The Facility Attendant follows safe cleaning practices while delivering high-quality cleaning and general maintenance to the centre.

Shifts for the role M-Fri: 4:30pm-1am, 8:30pm-5am; Weekends: 9-4pm, 4-1am, 8:30pm-5am; On Statutory Holidays the branch is open on: 11-7:30pm 

Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

  • Perform general maintenance duties or log requirements  as assigned.
  • Circulate and spot clean the change rooms and common areas every 30 minutes, making sure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of debris. 
  • Ensure paper, soap, toiletries, and health beauty supplies are fully stocked. 
  • Ensure program areas and locker rooms are tidy, collect dirty towels from locker room and restock towels in plus locker room.
  • Wash, dry, and store all laundry in respective areas.  (Only at Castledowns).
  • Communicate any supplies needed to maintain inventory as needed. 
  • Build and maintain good interpersonal staff and volunteer relationships.
  • Answer questions and support members in need of assistance.
  • Report to Duty Manager any inappropriate member behaviour or facility issue.

Health and Safety

  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety Child Protection, Emergency Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure safe, proper use of equipment and chemicals according to safe work practices and regulatory documentation. 
  • Inspect and monitor equipment daily and complete any maintenance and cleaning checklist duties. Inform the Coordinator or Duty Manager if repairs are needed.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Previous cleaning and/or janitorial experience is an asset. 
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check. 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
  • Flexibility required - work evenings, weekends.
  • Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to speak and write easily and accurately.
