Case Aide

The Case Aide is a full-time permanent program support position. The Case Aide assists and supports the frontline workers responsible for case management services to children, youth, and families of Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority (WCWA).
Duties:
- Acts as a liaison between front-line workers and their clients.
- Transports children to/ from medical, dental, and optical appointments.
- Transports children to/ and from specialized appointments.
- Transports children to/ and from school, court, and other events.
- Transports parents to/ from children's appointments as deemed appropriate.
- Transports children to/ from family visits and sibling visits.
- Ensures the safety of all passengers in the vehicle while transporting.
- Supervises parent/ child access visits.
- Supervises children who are waiting for their parents, caregiver, or worker.
- Provides support to the child and/ or family during transports and visits.
- Prepares clear and detailed case notes regarding occurrences during client transports and visits as required.
- Runs errands such as pick-up and delivery of children's clothing, and office supplies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Frontline, Service Manager, or Fleet Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or one year experience in a related field. However, others with a combination of skills, education, and experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the administrative structure and operations of Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority (WCWA), including the Customary Care Code, Manuals and Service Delivery Model, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
- Knowledge of the philosophy of service development/delivery, Wabaseemoong Independent Nations and family structure, local customs, and traditions.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports regarding service delivery and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with colleagues, community members, other relevant organizations, and management.
- Experience in working with high-risk or special needs children youth or families.
- General knowledge of children's developmental needs.
- Up-to-date CPR Certification.
- Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary Child Welfare Team.
- Commitment to providing the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
- Working knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.
- Ability to follow directions, as well as work independently as needed.
- Ability to flex daily work hours as needed.
- Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver's License and be willing to travel.
- Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver's Abstract, Internal Records Check
- Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.
