Director of Finance

Are you Director of Finance with strong experience in Controllership, F,P&A and operational finance? Do you enjoy leading and mentoring others? Is your experience primarily in the manufacturing industry? If so, this may be a great fit as our client is seeking a Director of Finance.

This role requires a hands-on leader who combines strong controllership discipline with advanced FP&A and operational analytics to drive business performance.

Key responsibilities

• Financial reporting:
  Prepare, analyze, and present internal and external financial statements, reports, and forecasts.

• Accounting operations:
  Manage and oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the general ledger. Manage month/quarter/year end close process.

• Budget and cash flow management:
  Coordinate and manage the annual budget, forecast cash flow, monitor financial performance, report variances to senior management. Perform detailed variance analysis and support strategic decision making. Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance, cost structures and investment decisions. Collaborate with operational and R&D teams across multiple locations to inform and support financial planning initiatives.

• Ad-Hoc & Operational Analysis Requirements:
  Lead ad-hoc financial and operational analyses to support strategic initiatives. Analyze operational KPIs, cost drivers, productivity, and margin performance. Support pricing, profitability, and cost optimization initiatives. Evaluate capital expenditures (CapEx) and ROI analyses. Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses for business risks and opportunities.

• Auditing and compliance:
  Coordinate with external auditors, implement internal controls, and ensure the company complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and tax requirements.

• Strategic guidance:
  Work with the executive team to provide financial data and insights to guide business decisions.

• Team leadership:
  Train and mentor accounting staff, including accounting managers to ensure a high-performing department.

Requirements

• Education:
  A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a CPA designation.

• Experience:
  years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, and cost control with minimum 3+ years leadership experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential. Proven experience in building and using financial models for business analysis and decision support.

• Skills:
  Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), proficiency in accounting software, excellent analytical skills, and leadership abilities are essential. US GAAP experience is preferred. Strong Analytical, communication and leadership skills. Excellent attention to detail.

• Software Skills:
  Proficient in JD Edwards (JDE) and Onestream preferred. Advanced Excel skills is a requirement , Power BI an asset.

• Other requirements:
  Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders are also critical.
