Imagine being the technical leader who ensures Ontario's health systems have the secure, reliable IT facilities they need. As a Senior Facilities Specialist, you'll design and manage infrastructure that supports emergency health services across the province—work that truly makes a difference.
About the jobIn this role, you will:
- Lead the planning, development, and maintenance of IT facilities and solutions.
- Advise ministry partners on how to use IT facilities to achieve business goals.
- Develop tools, standards, and policies that improve operations.
- Guide and train staff, and coordinate work with internal teams and external vendors.
- Oversee projects and ensure compliance with building codes, health and safety, and fire regulations.
- Research and recommend products and services that meet stakeholder needs.
Mandatory requirements
- Ability to travel within the region and across Ontario as needed.
- Knowledge of environmental control systems for computer and telecom installations (air conditioning, electrical, security, fire prevention).
- Understanding of Intel-based systems, networking technologies, and environmental requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Experience using computer-assisted design tools for facility drawings.
- Familiarity with facilities design standards, legislated requirements, and IT infrastructure theory.
- Experience ensuring compliance with building codes and safety guidelines.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to train and guide staff and present technical recommendations clearly.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate complex issues.
- Knowledge of project management tools and processes.
- Experience sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing service providers.
