Senior Tax Specialist:
On behalf of our financial services client, Procom is searching for a Senior Tax Specialist for a 6-month role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client's Toronto office.

Senior Tax Specialist - Job Description:
This role is open to backfill and manage increased volumes, supporting day-to-day tax operations. The Senior Tax Specialist will report to the Director, Tax Services, focusing on estate and trust taxation without a specific project assignment.

Senior Tax Specialist - Responsibilities:

  • Manage new and junior staff and conduct training sessions
  • Prepare and oversee complex tax returns, ensuring timely completion for Estate and Trust accounts
  • Engage with clients, understanding their business structures and risks
  • Liaise with tax teams, Trust staff, and clients to meet income tax filing requirements
  • Act as a technical tax resource and review assessment notices and prepare adjustment and objection notices
  • Participate in special projects and manage assigned projects with limited supervision

Senior Tax Specialist - Mandatory Skills:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an accounting or tax-related role
  • Familiarity with graduated rate estates
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting or equivalent
  • Experience with preparation of T1, T1 terminal (final), and T3 trusts and estate returns
  • Proficiency with tax prep software
  • Ability to conduct research and demonstrate technical expertise
  • Leadership skills with strong decision-making capabilities

Senior Tax Specialist – Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • CPA preferred or working towards
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to work paperless
  • Strong tax research and analytical skills
  • Well-developed communication skills for effective client interaction
  • Exceptional writing skills for preparing detailed communications

Senior Tax Specialist – Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position with the potential for extension or conversion to full-time employment based on business needs and performance.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in the office.
