Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for repairing and refurbishing various models of laptops and mobile devices, encompassing repairs from simple cosmetic fixes to board level work. The Repair Technician will work towards meeting production goals and contributing to a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities
Production:

  • Perform routine inspection, testing, and repair of laptops, smartphones, and other mobile devices.
  • Accurately document repairs and parts information on repair tracking documents / work orders and in tracking system.
  • Share experiences and learnings with other technicians.
  • Perform high quality repairs and refurbishment of electronic devices: phones/tablets/laptops/GPSs/ etc.
  • Monitor parts inventories and inform management of status.
  • Dismantle old electronic devices for OEM parts.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Ensure the repair has been done correctly, and the problem has been resolved
  • Strategically plan order of operations to ensure a successful repair
  • Contribute to a team environment
  • Work with manager to drive process optimization
  • Document repair processes
  • Keep up to date with technologies

Quality

  • Work within quality system environment ie: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, R2, ISO 45001
  • Work towards continuous and consistent improvement, quality, customer service in accordance with company policies/procedures
  • Involvement and collaboration with management as it relates to Quality/Process irregularities or production issues.
  • Creating and updating of work instructions as necessary
  • Adhere to 5S standards

Health And Safety

  • Active role in the Health and Safety systems
  • Ensure that safe conditions exist at all times within the work environment and take the appropriate action to protect the health and safety of all employees, visitors and contractors on site.

Skills
Qualifications:

  • Honesty and integrity
  • Graduate from Technician or Technologist program or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and self-motivated.
  • High energy level with the ability to be flexible.
  • Experience in mobile device repair (minimum 1 year) required; laptop repair experience is an asset.
  • Proven ability to perform quality repairs under time constraints.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, component replacement, and device assembly.
  • Experience in cosmetic refurbishment of mobile devices and tablets.
  • Knowledge of Android OS, iOS.
  • Surface-mount soldering experience is highly desirable.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and efficient with a strong work ethic.
  • High enthusiasm for technology and passion for electronic devices
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Long period of time in an office setting in front of a computer or electronic device.
  • Exposure to unsanitary and sometimes broken electronic devices
  • Working in an office type setting, indoors in a controlled environment
  • Lifting boxes that weigh up to 35 lbs
