The Slaight Family Centre for Youth in Transition at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is a clinical research centre integrated with a large clinical service for transition-age youth who are at-risk for, or at early stages of severe mental illness. The main goal of the Slaight Centre is to put more young people with severe mental illness on a path to recovery through a large program of research focused on the development of new and innovative treatments, health services research, enhancement of early detection efforts, and clinical brain research.

Position Description

The Slaight Centre at CAMH is seeking a casual Psychologist to support its research mission. The successful candidate will support research and clinical trials in youth at-risk for or in the early stages of psychosis. This role will support design, adaptation, and delivery of psychological interventions for clinical trials (including DBT and CBT for negative symptoms), as well as education and training of staff for delivery of such psychological interventions. The individual will work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment and support the training and development of staff and research trainees. Other responsibilities may include supporting grant preparations, data analysis, and knowledge translation and dissemination activities. The ideal candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) and eligibility for, or current registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario to practice Clinical Psychology. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of research and/or clinical experience related to DBT, CBT, and negative symptoms in psychotic disorders. A track record of supporting and implementing clinical research related to DBT, CBT, and negative symptoms in schizophrenia spectrum disorders in hospital-based contexts is also required.

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills, and function well within a cooperative, collaborative working environment. The successful candidate will have the ability for self-directed learning/working, while working concurrently on multiple projects, working independently with minimal supervision, and seeking advice and support when needed. You must be able to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. An excellent attendance record, consistency, and reliability should be demonstrated in your record of past employment and references.
