Summary:

Our award-winning client is seeking a Division Leader, Community Planning to join their team. In this critical role, you will oversee all aspects of land-use planning, long-range development, and development approvals. You will provide strategic direction, manage a professional team, and play a key role in shaping the future of the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Community Planning Division.

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of planning professionals.

  • Formulate and revise policies and procedures related to planning and development.

  • Prepare and manage the Division's annual budget.

  • Oversee major planning initiatives, including Official Plans and Secondary Plans.

  • Communicate effectively with developers, investors, and the community.

  • Provide expert planning advice to councils, committees, and other authorities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in professional planning within a municipal setting.

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation in Ontario, or actively working towards obtaining one.

  • Full membership or eligibility for full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP).

  • Strong knowledge of Ontario planning legislation, regulations, and best practices.

  • Proven leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluation.

  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, with experience presenting to public forums.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficient in project management principles and practices.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven recommendations.

  • Must possess a clear police record.
