Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead catering sales and planning for a fast-paced hockey and special events venue. This role is responsible for managing a team of up to 25 employees across catering sales and catering planning, while overseeing high-volume, high-profile events.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of up to 25 team members across catering planning and operations
- Provide on-site leadership during events, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with client and venue expectation
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of venue operations, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Culinary, and Event teams to ensure successful planning and delivery of all events
- Manage full-cycle catering planning and work in conjunction with the Partner
- Actively up-sell enhancements and premium offerings to maximize event revenue
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly sales and revenue reports
- Participate in weekly revenue meetings
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients
- Consult with clients to understand their vision and provide creative, tailored event solutions
- Maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and community partners
- Prepare accurate quotes, contracts, and event documentation
- Maintain organized and confidential sales and client files
- Utilize catering and sales systems to track account history, bookings, and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in catering sales management within a venue, hotel, or catering company
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams, ideally in a high-volume or event-driven environment
- Strong understanding of large-scale events, premium hospitality, and live sports or special events operations
- Proven ability to drive revenue, manage client relationships, and close sales
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- High level of professionalism, adaptability, and accountability
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; catering or event management software considered an asset
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event-driven schedules as required
