Personal Support Worker

Just Like Family Home Care is a proudly Canadian-owned and operated company dedicated to providing compassionate, professional in-home care. We are currently looking for experienced and caring Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team in the Newmarket, Aurora, and Bradford area.

About the Role:

You will assist clients with everyday tasks to help them maintain their independence at home. This may include companionship, personal care, transportation, house cleaning, personal hygiene, preparing meals and/or other home, health and wellness related activities. Shifts are available immediately with flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekdays, and weekends.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
• Provide patient care by monitoring health conditions and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals.
• Support meal preparation and ensure clients receive proper nutrition according to dietary needs.
• Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medication management.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
• Assist clients with heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring their safety during transfers.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.

Qualifications

• Able to legally work in Canada
• PSW certificate
• Up-to-date vaccinations required: Neg TB, Diphtheria + Tetanus, MMR, Varicella/Zoster, Hep B
• Recent Vulnerable Sector Check (within the last 6 months)
• CPR First Aid Certificate
• Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or senior care is preferred.
• Previous experience working with people with disabilities or providing Alzheimer's & dementia care is highly valued.
• Strong housekeeping skills, including the ability to perform cleaning tasks effectively.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor are essential for this role.
