What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a health, safety and environmental culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecon's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual. This role will support our Aecon Transportation West group.

What You'll Do Here:

Conduct safety orientation to workers, owners and clients.Train employees on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.Train or co-ordinate training for employees (e.g., fall protection, confined space entry, GHS, respiratory protection, emergency response).Conduct EHS assurance activities (e.g. workplace inspections, safety opportunities and audits.Update Safety Data Sheets as required.Develop worksite safety plans – such as emergency plans, environmental or site safety plans.Distribution of safety material, supplies and equipment.Prepare and deliver safety presentations to clients.Analyze EHS data trends.Recommend & monitor corrective actions.Assists with workers compensation claims.Develop modified work plans.Assist or lead Incident investigations.Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.Liaise with Government agencies as required.Prepare and assist with external safety audits (COR).Coordination of environmental issues.Gather and provide EHS based statistics.

What You Bring to the Team:

Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor preferred.Strong knowledge of Alberta/Saskatchewan OHS Regulations.Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.Exceptional organizational and time management skills.Excellent meeting and training facilitation.Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment.Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract. Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.Able to be on call for weekends and evenings for workplace incidents or emergencies. Must be able to travel, the successful applicant will be required to visit construction sites in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
