The Position

Join our team as an Intermediate Accountant where you will be working in a holding company corporate structure that includes diverse entities ranging from SaaS to professional services to leading edge Geospatial AI-enabled business units. Who you are

You are highly personable, have strong communication skills and have accounting experience working in a multi-entity corporate structure. You are organized and able to prioritize effectively to meet tight recurring deadlines on a monthly, quarterly and annual schedule. You are driven to ensure that business unit leaders and key internal stakeholders have relevant and timely data-driven insights to support decision-making and growth of the business. You are a lifelong learner with high curiosity for leaning into new ways of getting the jobs to be done in a highly productive and efficient way. You like to take ownership of whatever you work on and would thrive in a collaborative environment focused on taking the business to the next level.

What you will do

  • Assist in financial statement preparation for several Silvacom Group subsidiaries ensuring accurate and timely balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements that adhere to compliance with accounting principles, standards and regulations
  • Bank & intercompany reconciliations for the Silvacom Group companies that include high volumes of transactional exposure
  • Annual budget preparation assistance for the Group entities and business units
  • Assist in yearend working paper preparation and liaise with external auditors for select Silvacom Group companies
  • Ensure reporting and filing obligations for PST and GST returns
  • Collaborate with key business unit leaders and cross-functional teams to provide timely and accurate data / insights aligning to corporate growth
  • Contribute to process improvement and workflow efficiency of the finance function
  • Contribute to the collective finance team by cross-training for backup on key functions such as A/P, A/R, financial and ad hoc reporting
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, accounting regulations and emerging trends
  • Other duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate

  • College or Trade school diploma in Accounting / working towards an accounting designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of at least 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency using accounting software and Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and without significant supervision and under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in preparing audit working papers
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
