Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of the Brandon University Food Service team, you will uphold high standards of quality and service as set by the Food Services Manager and Executive Chef. Responsibilities include promoting the goals and image of Food Services, customer service, keeping customer areas clean and welcoming, and following strict sanitation and cleanliness procedures. Duties include ensuring dishes, pots, and utensils are properly washed and sanitized, keeping front areas stocked with dishes, glasses, and cutlery for customer use and maintaining correct storage practices. Additional duties include assisting with special functions, food station set-up and takedown, assisting with stock as needed, and communicating cleaning supply needs to the Executive Chef, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants must have successfully completed Grade 12 (or equivalent) and possess related experience in food production and handling. Knowledge of kitchen equipment (ex. dish machines), proper sanitizing procedures and safe use of cleaning chemicals is essential. Candidates must be able to lift up to 20 kgs, work quickly, and follow both oral and written instructions. A clean and tidy appearance is required, as well as compliance with all Manitoba Health regulations regarding hair and dress. Completion of a Safe Food Handling course (or willingness to obtain) is an asset. The ideal candidate works well independently and as part of a team. Please note that a physical demands assessment may be conducted during the hiring process.

*NOTE*

This is a full-time term position until August 31, 2026, with the possibility for yearly contract renewals, and is subject to layoff or reduced hours during periods of slow activity. Schedule is Monday to Friday, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and is subject to change based on operational need.
