Merge medical imaging solutions, offered by Merative, combine intelligent, scalable imaging workflow tools with deep and broad expertise to help healthcare organizations improve their confidence in patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
Working under minimal supervision, this person will perform software development activities related to existing and new product development. The person will be responsible for designing and developing highly scalable cloud-native applications using microservices architecture. The person will be directed by the team leader, architect, and/or manager and will liaison with Product Manager and cross-departmental Merge technical and clinical staff to understand new requirements / design constraints and understand or troubleshoot existing problems with the product. The person is expected to develop and document designs for modules, code and implement those designs, and perform developer verification and validation of those implementations according to the Merge Standard Operating Procedures. The person is also expected to mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members using their knowledge and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Perform product development in accordance with Merge's methodology and practices.
- Perform software module requirement analysis, design, and test design as assigned.
- Prepare software module specifications, designs, test descriptions and estimates as assigned.
- Implement software modules and unit tests as assigned and conduct appropriate module testing.
- Conduct appropriate verification and validation activities as assigned.
- Detect, report, investigate, and fix product defects as appropriate.
- Assist with escalated customer support investigations.
- Participate in the review of product engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, designs, test descriptions, implementations, tests, records, reports, etc).
- Design, develop, and recommend next generation platforms for cloud and on-premise deployments, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Develop deployment systems for a variety of interdependent applications running on Kubernetes, with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Do POCs and prepare technical reports as required.
- Where applicable, mentor team members and peer review product artifacts including requirement specifications, design specifications, code, etc..
- Engage actively in design and code reviews of work items completed by the team in conjunction with the Team Lead and/or architect.
- Where applicable, interface with customer(s) and Merge staff to gather product requirements, present technical aspects of the product, and understand problems with the product.
- Work effectively in collaboration with other members of the department, or with managers and staff across the organization with whom tasks must be completed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Technical Skills:
- Languages & Frameworks: Java/Quarkus/Springboot, Python, Golang, JavaScript and CSS.
- Container platforms: Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, OpenShift
- Broad exposure to the CNCF project ecosystem
- Cloud experience: Azure, AWS, GCP, or other
- Gen AI tools: Github Copilot
- Experience with microservices frameworks and interaction patterns
- Database: Relational, No-SQL (CosmosDB)
- REST services & APIs, HTTP methods
- Development Environments: Git, VS Code, Eclipse
- Experience in DICOM and HL7
- Experience in Web application development/deployment Platforms [Apache, Tomcat, etc.]
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office or other office automation/productivity software tools;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;

- An undergraduate or college degree or better in computer science or equivalent discipline or equivalent level of industry related experience
Experience
- 5+ years of related experience in software development, with a focus on cloud-native applications and microservices architecture.
- Experience is Medical Imaging domain is an added advantage.

The salary range provided in this job posting is intended to reflect the general market value for the position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. This range may also be subject to change as market conditions evolve. We encourage open communication throughout the interview process to discuss compensation expectations. For base-salary + commission sales roles, the range represents On-Target Earnings.
