We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and Designate to join our small, family-oriented childcare center. This is a full-time position offering a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the daily operations and quality of care within our program.

Position Details

  • Role: Early Childhood Educator and Designate
  • Employment Type: Full-time hours per week), Permanent position
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, between 7:00 AM and 6:15 PM (Specific shifts TBD)

Potential Career Growth

This role offers the successful candidate a clear pathway for advancement, including the chance to move into a hybrid position considered after successful probation period:

  • Part-time Assistant Position/Acting Supervisor (Afternoons): Taking on leadership duties during the latter part of the day.
  • Part-time RECE Position In-Class (Mornings): Continuing to engage directly with children in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

The successful candidate will be a vital member of our small team, working closely with the Supervisor to ensure the center meets all required standards and goals.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Designate Duties: Act as the center's designated person in the Supervisor's absence, ensuring the continuous, smooth operation of the facility.
  • Program Planning & Implementation: Deliver a high-quality, engaging program for toddler and/or preschool age groups, fostering a warm, family-like environment.
  • Compliance & Licensing: Actively assist in ensuring the center meets and maintains all CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act) and Toronto Public Health requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Professionally implement and lead staff workshops and training sessions.
  • Facilitate and help lead weekly staff meetings.
  • Multi-Tasking: Be prepared to wear multiple "hats," handling various small administrative and operational tasks daily.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Supervisor to achieve the center's goal of providing quality childcare with a family feel.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the college.
  • A minimum of 5 years of active, hands-on experience in a licensed childcare setting, specifically with toddler or preschool age groups (more experience is highly favorable).
  • Comprehensive Knowledge of:
  • The Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  • AQI (Assessment for Quality Improvement).
  • Toronto Public Health requirements for childcare centers.
  • The ability to multi-task daily and wear many hats effectively in a small center environment.
  • Computer knowledge is required. HiMama is beneficial.

Beneficial Knowledge (Assets):

  • Knowledge of CWELLC program
  • Understanding of subsidy requirements and administration.
