Financial Controller

OPPORTUNITY

As NPW continues to grow and achieve new milestones, we are seeking a full-time professional with prior accounting experience in the securities industry. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our finance team by handling a variety of financial tasks, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our financial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with CIRO, internal policies, and financial reporting requirements.
• Review, prepare, and post monthly journal entries, including working with other teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals.
• Complete the weekly RAC calculations and ensure they are reviewed by the UDP (Ultimate Designated Person) on a timely basis.
• Perform monthly general ledger closing and prepare for internal and external reporting.
• Prepare monthly actual vs. budget analyses and explain trends/variances.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting schedules.
• Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
• Assist with the enhancement of the accounting software system.
• Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Drive process improvement and system implementation efforts to streamline operations and improve the quality of the close process and internal control.
• Assist with the bi-weekly payroll process.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• 3-4 years of experience working in Accounting.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
• Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite skills(Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Basic analytical skills to assist with financial analysis tasks.
• Discretion in handling confidential financial information.
• CPA designation

ASSETS

• Expertise in securities industry accounting.
• QuickBooks Online Software knowledge.
• Fluently bilingual- English/French.

• Chief Financial Officers Course
