Your role:

Global Relay has a rich history of innovatively solving compliant communication and archiving challenges for regulated organizations of all shapes and sizes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Writer with intermediate experience to join our growing Technical Communication team. 

You will be responsible for creating a diverse set of documentation to help our users understand concepts and tasks specific to their roles. The successful candidate will create user and configuration guides/online help, contribute to developer documentation, draft release and maintenance notifications, and produce other relevant artifacts. Experience with a variety of content delivery tools is an asset, so we can tailor material to various types of users.  

Your responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the successful completion of all user content required for each product release or upgrade, including customer notifications
  • Research our users to understand their challenges and expected workflows to create the materials to facilitate their ongoing success
  • Collaborate with UX, Product, Technical Communication, and Marketing to produce consistent content for various touch points and contexts
  • Balance multiple projects and parallel deadlines
  • Contribute to the corporate style guide and voice guidelines; reinforce these styles when reviewing content produced by others
  • Stay current with advances and trends in the field and industry at large
  • Collaborate with other Technical Writers

About you: 

  • 4+ years Technical Writing experience creating a diverse set of content for various audiences, e.g. standard users, IT personnel, programmers, etc.
  • A portfolio providing your writing samples and documentation process
  • Degree/Diploma in English, technical writing, computer science, or related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and peers
  • Proficiency with the following:
    • Online documentation tools, e.g. Madcap Flare, WordPress
    • Knowledge base authoring tools, e.g. Salesforce Knowledge, Zendesk
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Email campaign tools, e.g. Constant Contact, HubSpot
    • Graphic editing tools, e.g. Photoshop, Visio, Snagit
  • Working knowledge of the following:
    • HTML and CSS
    • Project management tools, i.e. Confluence, JIRA
    • Conversational chatbots, AI terminology, prompt engineering
    • Collaboration platforms, e.g. Miro, Figma
  • Experience with the following is beneficial:
    • Product strategy software, e.g. Productboard
    • API schemas for developer documentation
    • Localization tools, e.g. MemoQ, Trados

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background. 

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support employees' work-life rhythms. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive annual allotted vacation days, which increase based on tenure. Other benefits include: Paid sick days, maternity/parental enhancement program, bonus, and an RRSP contribution matching program. 

For Vancouver-based employees, we provide a subsidized meal program, courtesy of our talented in-house culinary team

British Columbia - Base salary range $65,000—$80,000 CAD
