Your role:

Global Relay has a rich history of innovatively solving compliant communication and archiving challenges for regulated organizations of all shapes and sizes. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Technical Writer, dedicated to user advocacy and user success, to join our growing Technical Communication team. 

The Senior Technical Writer will create a diverse set of user assistance content, purpose-built to empower users to master the concepts and tasks specific to their role. The successful candidate will create user and configuration guides, developer documentation, online help, reference cards, release and maintenance notifications, training material, feature briefs, and other relevant artifacts. Experience with a variety of content delivery tools is required, so we can tailor material to a range of technical aptitudes, learning styles, and use cases.  

Your responsibilities: 

  • Champion our users by researching them, their roles, responsibilities, challenges, workflows, and more to create the materials to facilitate their ongoing success
  • Collaborate with UX, Product, Technical Communication, and Marketing to produce consistent content for various touch points and contexts
  • Contribute to the corporate style guide and voice guidelines; reinforce these styles when reviewing content produced by others
  • Work with stakeholders to incorporate their insights into your content to ensure your work benefits both our internal teams and external users
  • Examine approaches for leveraging technical writing tools and processes to streamline content creation
  • Ensure the successful completion of all user content required for each product release or upgrade, including secondary and complementary material
  • Manage multiple projects and parallel deadlines
  • Stay current with advances and trends in the field and industry at large
  • Collaborate with and support other Technical Writers

About you: 

  • 7+ years Technical Writing experience creating content for diverse audiences, e.g. standard users, IT personnel, programmers/developers, data scientists, etc.
  • A portfolio providing your writing samples and documentation process
  • Degree/Diploma in English, technical writing, computer science, or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of the following:
    • Online documentation tools, e.g. Madcap Flare, WordPress
    • Knowledge base authoring tools, e.g. Salesforce Knowledge, Zendesk
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Email campaign tools, e.g. Constant Contact, HubSpot
    • Graphic editing tools, e.g. Photoshop, Visio, Snagit
  • Working knowledge of the following:
    • HTML and CSS
    • API schemas for developer documentation
    • Project management tools, i.e. Confluence, JIRA
    • Localization tools: e.g. MemoQ, Trados
    • Conversational chatbots, AI terminology, prompt engineering
    • Product strategy software, e.g. Productboard
    • Collaboration platforms, e.g. Miro, Figma
  • Advanced interview skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and empathetically with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, all levels of management, and peers
  • Marketing copywriting proficiency is an asset

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background. 

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support employees' work-life rhythms. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive annual allotted vacation days, which increase based on tenure. Other benefits include: Paid sick days, maternity/parental enhancement program, bonus, and an RRSP contribution matching program. 

For Vancouver-based employees, we provide a subsidized meal program, courtesy of our talented in-house culinary team

British Columbia - Base salary range $65,000—$80,000 CAD
