Role Description

Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and internal policies

Oversee Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P)

Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and treasury management

Support the CFO with board-level reporting and strategic financial planning

Tax & Compliance

Coordinate and prepare all federal and provincial tax filings (corporate, GST/PST)

Ensure accurate year-end financial reporting for external auditors/accountants

Maintain compliance with veterinary industry regulations and government standards

Disbursements & Income Oversight

Ensure timely invoicing and collections for all products and services

Oversee vendor payments, purchasing, and disbursements within budget

Manage loan agreements, leases, and banking relationships

Inventory & Asset Management

Oversee inventory management processes to ensure proper stock levels (prevent shortages during high-demand seasons such as preventive care campaigns)

Collaborate with operations on purchasing controls, cost tracking, and efficiency measures

Safeguard and manage physical and digital assets, software systems, and security

Leadership & Team Development

Supervise and mentor any additional Finance Team members as the Department grows in the future

Plan, schedule, and allocate resources effectively to meet organizational priorities

Maintain workflow efficiency by providing guidance and leading team meetings

Foster collaboration and communication by acting as a liaison between Finance & Accounting and other Departments

Qualifications

CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) preferred

5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (ideally in healthcare, veterinary, or service-based industries)

Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and IFRS

Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO), Impromed/Digitail, or other ERP/Practice Management Software an asset

Proven leadership and people-management skills

Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and process-improvement focused
