This newly created position of CMM Operator & Quality Inspector will report to the Director of Quality and will examine the product for physical defects, review the drawings and specifications to understand the product requirements, and verify the product's dimensionality and workmanship visually against the drawing and specifications to confirm conformance.

Shift (day): Mon - Thurs 7:30 am - 5pm; Fri 7:30 am - 4pm
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Work Order Review
- Review work orders/Traveller for accuracy and completeness, verifying applicable revisions and ensuring that all manufacturing processes are defined.
Inspect
- Inspect, monitor, and ensure all quality standards are met for manufactured parts to establish criteria and control plans, before releasing them to the next step of the operation.
First Off Inspection / Incoming Inspection
- Conduct first-off inspection activities to ensure that the correct set-up, product program, and product meet the customer and drawing requirements.
- Verify incoming materials to confirm compliance with the purchase order and/or customer requirements and liaise with the supplier as applicable regarding documentation and defective material.
In-process Inspection / Final Inspection
- Perform regular assessments during the manufacturing cycle to confirm that the product and process are still in control and the product meets quality standards and customer requirements.
- Review the work order/traveller to ensure that all defined operations have been completed and verified.
- Perform quality assessment before the product is released to the customer to ensure that all the customer and drawing requirements have been completed and met.
Weldment Inspection
- Compare welded assemblies against drawings to ensure compliance with the specifications and drawings.
Documentation
- Completed the desired quality documentation, such as First Article Inspection Report (FAI), PPAP, Quality Performance Reports, Inspection Logs and Records, etc.
- Records inspection activities such as first-off, in-process, incoming, and final inspection results on required records.
- Assist and provide recommendations to update production instructions, inspection procedures, checklists, records, etc.
- Ensure that all WIP, stores, purchased, and/or finished products are identified with the inspection status in every process or area.
NCR
- Ensure that any product identified as defective shall be tagged and properly identified.
- Identify each problem or issue regarding the quality of the product and inform the production lead hand and the applicable supervisor.
- Ensure the quality-related issues are resolved promptly and the rework is verified to ensure it meets the quality and drawing requirements.
Corrective Action
- Assist in investigating manufacturing and customer complaints regarding quality and errors, as directed by management.
Priorities
- Understand priority sequencing for inspection and work under the guidance of the Production and Quality Management to establish the priorities.
Process Improvement
- Review all data obtained during all quality control activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures and report any opportunities for improvement.
CMM Operator
- Familiar with setting up the CMM or Faro Arm per the inspection instructions (documentation or photos).
- Selecting the desired program (Part Number & Revision) and inspecting the part.
Other
- Enforce company standards regarding quality, safety and security regulations, environmental compliance, and good housekeeping practices.
- Can and willing to work afternoon shifts as required.
- Perform other duties within their skill sets as assigned by the Senior and/or Quality Management directive.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education and/or University or College Degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Quality engineering or similar disciplines (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in an ISO9001 or AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
- A good understanding of product development in metal fabrication or machining processes is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications to understand product requirements and validate compliance with these specifications and drawings.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers to ensure that issues are appropriately communicated, contained, and resolved.
- Able to use various measuring equipment or tools, including but not limited to: Vernier, calipers, micrometer, height gauges, feeler gauges, coating thickness tester, and digital protractor, etc.
- Familiar with SPC principles and able to read and interpret work orders and drawings, along with understanding GD & T.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with Microsoft Office. (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience working with ERP systems, prefer VISUAL INFO.
- Must be able to read and communicate in English through both verbal and written means.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, complete tasks with minimal supervision and able to work in a team environment.
- Good problem-solving skills and can provide solutions.
Other Skills
- ASQ certifications, an asset
- Completion of a college program in Quality Assurance
- Solid knowledge of metal manufacturing.
- Use of SolidWorks as an asset.
- Familiarity with operating a Laser Scanner, Faro Arm, or CMM (Zeiss Calypso) is an asset.
