About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Lloyd Complex Development, and working with an integrated team, the Senior Development Engineer is responsible for integrating data across various functions in the Lloyd Thermal Oil sands space to maintain high-quality asset development plans that enable Cenovus to operate a smarter business.
The successful candidate will help build and analyze development plans and use those plans to optimize and maintain business cases for oil sands projects.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate with production, operations, process & forecasting teams to integrate data and assemble robust analyses to support decision makers and high-quality, predictive, development plan models for strategy, budget, and five-year planning purposes
- Develop and maintain predictive development plans for the Thermal Asset to forecast production, sustaining capital, and OPEX, and to support ESG initiatives, operating strategy enhancements, gate progression, and strategic alternative evaluations.
- Provide robust technical and economic insights to evaluate inorganic growth opportunities and divestiture scenarios, ensuring consistent, data-driven decision support across the asset lifecycle.
- Own the Monthly Production Review (MPR) process by facilitating cross-functional workflows, incorporating functional updates, socializing impacts ahead of review, and clearly communicating production and execution-timing outcomes.
- Synthesize and distill MPR results into clear, actionable insights for inclusion in monthly ULT reporting.
- Assume the role of Business Opportunity Manager for select oil sands projects, including annual subsurface optimization programs, facilities engineering programs, asset retirement obligation programs, and redevelopment well programs.
- Provide strategic oversight and coordination across these opportunities to ensure alignment with asset priorities, value delivery, and integrated execution planning.
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized institution
- Licensed Professional, registered and in good standing, with APEGA or APEGS
- A minimum of 8 years of Engineering or Geosciences experience in the Oil & Gas Industry
- Understanding of Development/Reservoir/Production/Process Engineering
