WSP is currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer , with a strong background in municipal and land development engineering. The position is available in our Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, or Red Deer offices. Project work contributing to projects from small to large scale throughout Alberta, and potentially across Canada, and the Americas. This opportunity presents the successful candidate with a chance to work primarily on engineering assignments with minimal administrative or management functions.
This role is ideal for a senior engineering professional who thrives working on complex municipal infrastructure projects for public clients, land developers and at industrial facilities while directly engaging with clients and approval agencies. The successful candidate will provide senior technical review and leadership, mentoring junior professionals and technical staff through the project life cycle from planning and pre-feasibility study to preliminary and detailed engineering design and construction support.

WeAre WSPWhat you can expect to do here:
- Manage and deliver technical engineering work on municipal infrastructure systems ranging from water supply, pumping, storage, transmission and distribution, sewage collection, pumping, transmission and primary / secondary treatment, stormwater planning and analysis for minor / major systems including stormwater management facilities, streets and pedestrian networks,
- Technical writing for reports, manuals and technical memos.
- Client and stakeholder liaison, assistance to project manager with approvals
- Coordination with other disciplines including mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural, instrumentation and controls.
- Providing technical leadership to technicians and junior professionals
- Quality assurance reviews of professional drawings and documents
- Understanding of multi-jurisdictional engineering standards and guidelines
- Develop and implement innovative solutions.
- Take technical and management responsibility of tasks and delegate effectively to project engineers, technologists and design teams
- Interacting directly with various personnel in our Client's organizations, including face to face meetings.
- Other related duties as assigned
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Minimum 15 years of technical engineering experience in an engineering consulting environment
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required
- Registration as a P.Eng. in Alberta. Registration in Ontario, NWT/Nunavut, British Columbia and Saskatchewan are considered assets
- Previous experience collaborating with multi-discipline project teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents
- Experience delivering technical and business presentations
- Ability to work independently and in diverse teams
- Experience writing technical memos and reports
- Ability to mentor staff
