Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Alta Electronics Inc. Full time

Company Overview

At Alta Electronics Inc, we specialize in high-performance interconnect solutions. From complex custom wire harnesses to high-volume cable assemblies, we pride ourselves on precision and reliability. We are looking for a detailed-oriented Quality Inspector to ensure our products meet the rigorous standards of our customers and the IPC/WHMA-A-620 specifications.

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying that all wire harnesses and cable assemblies meet engineering specifications and quality standards before shipment. You will perform visual and mechanical inspections, conduct electrical tests, and document results. The ideal candidate has a sharp eye for detail, understands crimp quality standards, and can read complex technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Inspection & Verification

• First Article Inspection (FAI): Conduct rigorous verification of the first piece of a production run to ensure all settings and components are correct.

• Visual Inspection: Examine assemblies for defects such as damaged insulation, incorrect wire routing, missing hardware, or labeling errors.

• Crimp & Solder Validation: Inspect crimp height, pull-force strength, and solder joint quality according to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.

• Dimensional Checks: Use calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify wire lengths, strip lengths, and connector positions tolerances.

  1. Electrical Testing

• Perform continuity, shorts, and mis-wire testing using automated test equipment (e.g., Cirris testers) or multimeters.

• Troubleshoot failures to determine if the issue is a manufacturing defect or a component failure.

  1. Documentation & Compliance

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wire lists, and Bills of Materials (BOM).

• Record inspection data accurately in the quality database/ERP system.

• Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for defective products and work with production to identify the root cause.

• Ensure the facility maintains compliance with ISO 9001 and internal quality protocols.

Pay: 19-20/hr

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Experience: 1–3 years of quality control experience in manufacturing (electronics or cable assembly preferred).

• Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Measurement Tools: Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, crimp height gauges, and rulers.

Accessibility Statement:

We are committed to providing an accessible workplace. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates participating in all stages of the hiring process.
