Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager of National Underwriting, the Intermediate Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for the day-to-day activities involved in underwriting Head Office property and casualty program business with select brokers and underwriting partners. Sound underwriting and customer relationship skills are key.

This individual will be a motivated insurance professional who is business minded, results driven, customer focused, and based in Manitoba.

Job Responsibilities:

· Assess, investigate, and refer as necessary commercial program renewals and new submissions using our philosophies, guidelines, and program guidelines.

· Quote and negotiate new and renewal program business via selecting, assessing, and pricing risk with proven underwriting techniques.

· Provide exceptional service to broker and underwriting partners in the management of existing program portfolios while ensuring quality underwriting standards are met.

· Order and review risk control inspections and follow-up on recommendations.

· Review and analyze losses and make appropriate recommendations for loss prevention.

· Collaborate with the National Underwriting team and Management team in regular meetings.

· Represent Wynward Insurance Group at broker visitations and various industry or trade functions to drive brand awareness.

Job Qualifications:

· 3 to 5 years of intermediate commercial underwriting experience.

· Completion of or working towards CIP or FCIP designations.

· Strong analytical, assessment, decision-making, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently.

· Good computer skills and familiarity with MS Office software.

· Well organized, self-starter with excellent time management skills.

· Bilingual skills in French and English are considered an asset.
