We at Shree Restaurant Bakery & Sweets are seeking experienced Indian Ethnic Food Cooks for our busy restaurant located at 5025 Mullen Road NW, Edmonton, AB T6R 0S9. Must know curries, tandoori dishes, spice blends and authentic Indian cooking methods.

Responsibilities and Duties:
· Prepare and cook complete meals and a variety of individual dishes, with a focus on authentic East Indian cuisine such as curries, tandoori items, biryanis, vegetarian dishes, breads (naan, roti), and appetizers
· Follow traditional recipes and maintain consistent flavour, texture, portioning, and presentation for all menu items
· Prepare specialized spice blends, masalas, marinades, and curry bases according to established standards
· Manage daily mise-en-place, including ingredient preparation, chopping, marination, grinding spices, and preparing bases
· Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and tools, including tandoor oven, tawa, gas burners, deep fryers, and other cooking appliances
· Coordinate and assist in the planning of special events, buffets, and banquets
· Requisition and order food items, ingredients, supplies, and kitchen equipment as needed
· Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
· Maintain accurate inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
· Train kitchen staff in preparation, cooking techniques, food handling, and safe kitchen practices
· Supervise kitchen staff and helpers to ensure efficient workflow and timely service
· Manage daily kitchen operations and support smooth service during peak hours
· Recruit and hire kitchen personnel when required
· Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, tools, work surfaces, and all kitchen areas regularly
Cooking specific skills required:
· Tandoor Operation: Must have proven experience operating tandoor ovens at 400°F.
· Regional Specialties: Ability to prepare dishes from key Indian regions such as Punjabi, Gujarati, Bengali and Kashmiri cuisines.
· Spice Management: Understanding of whole vs. ground spice usage and skill in preparing freshly ground masalas.
· Roasting Proficiency: Knowledge of proper roasting levels for different spices and ingredients.
· Marination Skills: Experience working with yogurt-based marinades, correct use of tenderizers, and balanced spice rub ratios.
· Grilling Technique: Strong command of proper char and grill methods for authentic flavor and texture.
Qualifications and skills :
· Must be able to communicate in English
· Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
· 3 years to less than 5 years of experience
· Food Safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
