Child and Family Therapist (Independent Contractor)

Young Sprouts Therapy | Thornhill, ON

Young Sprouts Therapy is a growing child and family psychotherapy practice dedicated to supporting children, parents, and families through thoughtful, developmentally informed care. We are currently seeking a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Social Worker (RSW) to join our team as an independent contractor.

This role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys working closely with children and parents, values collaboration, and wants to be part of a supportive, well-run practice.

Core Client Population (Required)

  • Children ages 7 to 12
  • Parent support, including parent coaching, feedback sessions, and collaboration with caregivers

Bonus Experience (Asset, Not Required)

  • Work with children ages 0 to 6
  • Work with adolescents and teens (ages 12 to 17)
  • Training or experience in one or more of the following:
  • Attachment-based approaches
  • Play therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Theraplay
  • Training or experience in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, ACT, EFT, or Narrative Therapy
  • Additional certifications, continuing education, or specialized trainings relevant to child, adolescent, or family therapy

Schedule & Availability (Required)

  • In-person availability at our Thornhill office
  • Monday to Thursday, between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm
  • Minimum 4–5 hours per day
  • At least 4 days per week
  • Sundays: availability in either morning or afternoon hours is a strong asset
  • Minimum 15 client hours per week, with opportunity to grow beyond this

Compensation

  • $90–$110 per clinical hour, based on experience, training, and fit
  • Independent contractor position

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct parent intake sessions as the initial session, gathering background information, understanding family goals, and setting a collaborative treatment plan before beginning child sessions
  • Provide in-person psychotherapy to children
  • Conduct parent coaching and feedback sessions as part of treatment
  • Maintain timely and professional clinical documentation
  • Complete session notes and records using Jane App
  • Manage scheduling and rescheduling outside of admin hours when needed
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with parents, admin staff, and the Clinical Director
  • Participate in case discussions and collaboration as appropriate
  • Uphold ethical standards and regulatory requirements of your college
  • Maintain professional boundaries, reliability, and consistency with clients
  • Participate in optional team meetings or group supervision as desired
  • Contribute positively as a team player, demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and respect for colleagues and support staff

Requirements

  • Registration in good standing as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Social Worker (RSW)
  • Experience working with children ages 7–12 and their parents
  • Comfort providing parent coaching and feedback
  • Availability that meets the scheduling requirements above
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfort using practice management software (Jane App experience is an asset)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual, Freelance

Pay: $90.00-$110.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
