Senior SAP ABAP Developer (Contract)

We are currently seeking a
Senior SAP ABAP Developer
for a long-term contract opportunity within a large, structured enterprise/public-sector environment. This role is ideal for an experienced SAP professional who is comfortable working independently, writing complex ABAP code, and supporting mission-critical SAP systems.

This is a
hands-on technical role
where you will be responsible for backfilling and supporting an established SAP development team, contributing immediately with minimal ramp-up.

    Hybrid (3 days onsite per week in Toronto, ON)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and enhance
    SAP S/4HANA ABAP
    solutions
  • Write and maintain
    complex ABAP programs
    , including custom reports, enhancements, workflows, and integrations
  • Analyze existing code and recommend
    technical, performance, and structural improvements
  • Ensure all development meets SAP standards, best practices, and organizational guidelines
  • Collaborate with functional and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Support ongoing SAP development initiatives as a senior backfill resource
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across SAP modules as needed

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with
    SAP S/4HANA ABAP
  • Proven development experience across the following SAP modules:
  • FI (Financial Accounting)
  • CO (Controlling)
  • FM (Funds Management)
  • SD (Sales & Distribution)
  • Experience developing
    SAP UI5 / Fiori
    applications
  • Solid understanding of
    SAP Workflow
  • Ability to write, review, and optimize
    complex technical code
  • Experience working in
    large enterprise or regulated environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Nice to Have

  • Experience in
    public-sector, education, or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to performance tuning and modernization initiatives within SAP
  • Experience supporting or backfilling established SAP teams
