Your Opportunity
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. ("Triton") is seeking highly motivated, skilled, and enthusiastic Wildlife Biologists to join our well-established team of environmental professionals.
In this role, you'll contribute to meaningful, world-class projects that balance environmental stewardship with responsible resource development—projects that go beyond technical work to help shape and sustain local and provincial communities.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about wildlife biology, enjoy working outdoors, and thrive working in a dynamic and fast-paced consulting environment. You will play a key role in delivering wildlife expertise to both field teams and project managers across Western Canada.
Your Impact
As a Wildlife Biologist at Triton, your responsibilities may include:
- Conducting a variety of wildlife field surveys (e.g., breeding bird, herptile, bat, and Species at Risk surveys)
- Performing nest sweeps and monitoring, species-specific surveys, and wildlife mitigation and relocation
- Supporting multi-disciplinary teams with technical wildlife expertise
- Managing project tasks, fieldwork, and report delivery to meet client schedules and quality expectations
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and on-site representatives
- Advising clients on environmental Best Management Practices
- Supporting internal project review and quality assurance
- Working collaboratively within Triton's team-oriented culture
Opportunities for Experienced Candidates
- For candidates with more experience, there may be opportunities to step into a Field Crew Lead role, providing leadership and oversight during field programs.
- There is also an opportunity to take on an office-based role, with little to no field travel, focused on technical advisory leadership, coordination of field programs, and direct client engagement.
Note: Duties may evolve based on business needs and as you grow within the role.
Your Skills & Experience
Required:
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a similar discipline
- Eligibility for or current registration as a Professional Biologist (P.Biol./R.P.Bio.)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license in a Canadian province or territory
- Ability to travel and work remotely in field settings (rotational shifts, camp/hotel accommodations)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of federal and provincial environmental regulations and permitting processes
- Having worked in environmental consulting industry is preferred
- Having previous field work experience, conducting wildlife biology related work
- Experience conducting pre-construction and construction-phase wildlife work
- Familiarity with Species at Risk protocols
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills
- Collaborative, problem-solving mindset
- Able to work in a team environment
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is primarily field-based and involves working on a rotational shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to travel and work in remote locations for extended periods, with accommodations provided (camp and/or hotel, depending on project requirements). Scheduling may vary based on specific client and project needs.
For senior-level candidates, there may be the opportunity to transition into a more office-based role, which offers a collaborative and flexible hybrid working schedule.
